10th Mountain Division ( eng. 10th Mountain Division ) - Division of the United States . Currently (2009) is part of the 18th Airborne Corps (XVIII Airborne Corps). Based in Fort Drum, New York . The motto is Climb to Glory (“Rising to Glory”).

It was originally formed in 1918 as an infantry division with the purpose of sending it to Europe to help the Entente, but it never left the country and was dissolved in 1919. Recreated in July 1943 as the 10th Light Division (Alpine). From January 1945 she participated in the hostilities on the Italian front of the Second World War . After the war was disbanded. It was re-formed in 1948 , first functioned as a training division, and in 1954 it became an infantry unit. She served in West Germany until her disbandment in 1958 .
The newly formed in February 1985 as the 10th (light) division of the US Army (mountain infantry). Participated in the aftermath of hurricane "Andrew" in Florida ( 1992 ), in peacekeeping operations in Somalia , in Haiti and in Bosnia. Also participated in the hostilities in Afghanistan and Iraq . As of mid-2009, one brigade of the division is serving in Afghanistan.
