Anicet Adalbert Koplinsky ( Polish: Anicet Adalbert Kopliński ; July 30, 1875 , Debrzno , Poland - October 16, 1941, Auschwitz concentration camp , Governor-General ) - blessed Roman Catholic Church , monk from the Franciscan Order of the Capuchins , priest , martyr . He is among 108 blessed Polish martyrs who were beatified by Pope John Paul II during his visit to Warsaw on June 13, 1999 .

Biography

Born in the Germanized Mazurian family of Lorentz and Berta Koplinsky. November 23, 1893 joined the novitiate of the Franciscan Order of the Capuchins. He took eternal monastic vows on November 24, 1897. On August 15, 1900 he was ordained a priest . Engaged in pastoral activities with Polish emigrants in Westphalia , Germany . In March 1918 he was sent to study the Polish language at the Capuchin monastery in Warsaw , where he soon became known as a good confessor. His services as a confessor were used by those wishing to join the Franciscan order, among them was the future Pope Pius XI .

On the night of the 26th to the 27th of June 1941, the Gestapo was arrested along with other Capuchins of the Warsaw monastery. In September 1941 he was sent to the Auschwitz concentration camp , where he died in a gas chamber on October 16, 1941. Its concentration number is 20376.

Praise

On June 13, 1999, he was beatified by Pope John Paul II along with other Polish martyrs of World War II.
