Australian Citizen Passport - an identity document of an Australian citizen, is issued only to its citizens for travel abroad.

Content

History

  • An “X” passport series was issued in 1917 , during the First World War .
  • In 1914 - 1915, a decree was issued that every citizen over 16 years old must have a passport to leave the Commonwealth countries .
  • In 1949, 2 types of passports were issued:
    1. B-Series for non-Australian British citizens.
    2. C-series for Australian citizens.
  • In 1969, on the cover of the passport, the phrase Australian Passport was changed to British Passport .
  • Until 1983, a married woman's passport had to be confirmed by her husband.
  • In 1984, an Australian passport was the first typewritten with laminated inserts.
  • Since 1986, all children had to have a separate identity document and could no longer be entered on their parents' passports.
  • The L-series of the passport contained a photograph of the owner and his signature. Passport has become color.
  • On November 27, 2003, the security of the M-Series passport was improved by the introduction of holograms.
  • In October 2005, the issuance of electronic passports began.
  • In May 2009, the design of passports (N-series) was slightly changed, and the security system was improved.
  • In June 2014, the P-series was released, which combines the properties of electronic and conventional passports, and also has even more advanced security features, including the world's first color “pop-up” pattern.

Passport Types

  • Standard (black or blue cover) - passport for all citizens.
    • Frequent traveler (black or blue cover) - differs from the standard in a large number of pages.
  • Urgent (black cover) - a passport issued urgently (one to two days) or to Australians abroad in case of theft or loss of the main passport. Valid for 12 months.
  • Diplomatic (red cover) - passport for diplomats.
  • Official (gray-green cover) - a passport for officials representing Australia.
