The German Cup ( German Deutschland Cup ) is an annual hockey tournament among national teams, held in Germany . The competition has been organized by the German Hockey Union ( German: Deutscher Eishockey-Bund ) and has been held since 1987 . Tournament cities: Stuttgart , Ulm , Bietigheim , Pforzheim , FΓΌssen , Memmingen , Munich , Hanover , Hamburg , Mannheim , Frankfurt am Main , Augsburg .

History
Over the years, teams from Denmark , Italy , Canada , Latvia , Poland , Russia , Slovakia , the USSR , the USA , Finland , Switzerland , Sweden , the Czech Republic , Czechoslovakia , and Japan took part in the German Cup . In addition, in 1994 , in the year the founding of the new elite league DEL took place, the All-Star DEL team participated. In 1988, Spartak (Moscow) participated in the competition for the USSR national team. But in the late 90s, interest in the tournament fell.
In 2000 , after a three-year pause, on the eve of the world hockey championship in Germany, the German Cup has revived again.
From 2000 to 2007, the Cup was held at the TUI Arena ( German: TUI Arena ) in the city of Hanover .
In 2005, the German Cup was renamed the TUI Nations Cup , but already in 2006 the organizers returned to the old name Deutschland Cup .
In 2008, it was held at the SAP Arena ( German: SAP Arena ) in the city of Mannheim .
From 2009 to at least 2011, the tournament will be held at the Olympiahalle in Munich .
Regular participants at the beginning of the 21st century include, along with the owners of Germany and Switzerland , first of all, Slovakia , Canada , and the national team of the United States , although the latter are played mainly by players from European leagues, and not from the NHL .
