Geography
Husavik is located in the northern part of Iceland, in the Nordurting community of the Nordurland- Estra region. It is the administrative center of its community. The city lies on the shore of Skyaulvandi Bay, has a port for fishing boats and is located on one of the central motorways of Iceland (No. 85); the distance from Husavik to the capital of Reykjavik is 463 kilometers. 2926 people live in the city (as of 2010).

History
In the territory where the city of Husavik is now located, around 875 the Swedish Viking Gardar Svawason wintered and built his camp. He was one of the first to seriously explore and develop the Icelandic lands. The monument dedicated to him stands in the square near the city school.
Attractions
In Husavik, in the port area, is the Museum of Whales . From the city you can also make sea excursions to observe marine mammals .
From Husavik you can go on an excursion to the Muvatn region, a volcanically active region southeast of the city.
Earlier in Husavik there was also the only Phallological Museum in the world (a museum dedicated exclusively to the study of mammalian penises), containing exhibits belonging, however, only to animals (from mice to whales ). However, then he moved to Reykjavik .
