Holiday History
Officially, at the highest interstate level, the idea of holding "World Oceans Day" was first voiced in 1992 at the international summit , which was held in Brazil in Rio de Janeiro .
Since that time, “World Oceans Day” has been widely celebrated by almost everyone who has at least some relation to the oceans . Scientists - ecologists , ichthyologists , staff of many aquariums , zoos , dolphinariums coordinate their efforts on this day in order to preserve the unique ocean flora and fauna from their greatest danger - human greed [1] .
