The orchestra was founded in 1977 by conductor Lee Dalong . Today, the Beijing Symphony Orchestra is one of the most famous in China. He regularly takes part in various cultural events and annually gives about 80 concerts. Many orchestra performances are broadcast throughout the country by China Central Television . The repertoire of the orchestra, along with classical masterpieces of various eras and styles from Beethoven to Copland , includes works by modern Chinese composers. Each year several premieres of their works are held. In addition to active concert activity within the country, the orchestra is touring in Germany , Australia , Croatia and Korea . Many famous musicians from Europe , Asia and America collaborated with the Beijing Orchestra, including Andrea Bocelli , Jose Carreras , En Shao , Vadim Repin , Vladimir Ovchinnikov , Evgeny Svetlanov , Sarah Brightman , Jean-Michel Jarre .
