History

Tower in 1965

From January 1, 1956 , the Republican television studio began to be broadcast from the Minsk TV tower. The range of confident reception reached 70 km .

On October 6, 1967, the Minsk Telecentre for the first time received a full color television signal from Moscow via the SECAM- 3B system via a radio-relay line . [1] , although at that time in Minsk there were only 5 color televisions [2] . Two of them were installed on the Minsk television center to monitor the radio-relay line and the air, and it was the television center workers who were the first to watch color television broadcasting .

On September 13, 1974, the television center regularly conducts color programs.

By 1976, the radio and television transmitting center had already been moved out of town and the tower was used only for the operation of mobile television stations and the transfer of programs from Minsk to the new center. Therefore, it was decided to use it also for creating a republican radio telephone communication in the capital. To do this, the tower was shortened by almost 40 meters , having performed a unique operation on the morning of July 13 - a helicopter hung over the tower, the installers secured the cables and a minute later the machine lifted the section and transferred it to a specially equipped platform near Komsomolskoye Lake. Although it was possible to dismantle using a “creeping” crane used in such cases, it would take a lot of time and, moreover, it was almost impossible to lift a multi-ton load to such a height. Therefore, for the first time in Minsk, the MI-10K helicopter designed for installation work took over this operation (this work was performed by an experienced Moscow crew of F. Belushkin, N. Seliverstova, G. Provalov and lead engineer A. Chubarev). Further, at a height of about 160 meters, a platform with a diameter of 20 meters was mounted, which consisted of 8 five-ton petals, on which antennas were installed, which are necessary for the operation of a new type of communication.

Tower 2

In 2014, it was planned to build another TV tower. Three sites were discussed: one in Minsk (on Komsomolsky Lake ) and two in satellite cities ( Molodechno and Dzerzhinsk ). But the project was closed for two reasons: financial and because of the fears of blackouts in Minsk, Molodechno, Dzerzhinsk and / or neighboring settlements.
