The honorary citizen of the Republic of Mordovia is the honorary title of the subject of the Russian Federation - the Republic of Mordovia , established by the Law of the Republic of Mordovia dated April 26, 1996 No. 12-Z “On State Awards of the Republic of Mordovia” [1] .

The honorary title “Honorary Citizen of the Republic of Mordovia” is the highest honorary title of the Republic of Mordovia and the highest form of awarding of the Republic of Mordovia and is awarded for outstanding services to the Republic and the Fatherland.

The names of persons awarded the title “Honorary Citizen of the Republic of Mordovia” are recorded in the Book of Honorary Citizens of the Republic of Mordovia specially established by the Head of the Republic of Mordovia, which is stored in the capital of the Republic of Mordovia, Saransk, in the residence of the Head of the Republic of Mordovia.

The awarding of the honorary title “Honorary Citizen of the Republic of Mordovia” includes persons awarded state awards of the USSR or the Russian Federation and the Republic of Mordovia.

The honorary title “Honorary Citizen of the Republic of Mordovia” is awarded once a year on the day of the formation of the Republic of Mordovia - January 10.

Awarding the title of “Honorary Citizen of the Republic of Mordovia” may be performed posthumously.
