Space western

Space Western (from the English Space Western ) is a genre of adventure science fiction , defined by the characteristic elements of a western transferred to a fantastic surroundings (in contrast to the science fiction western genre, which transfers fantastic elements to the surroundings of the Wild West ). Sometimes considered as a subgenre of space opera .

The action of cosmic westerns usually takes place in the distant future, on other planets. Usually represented by films and television, animated series, although there are also comic book series , books and video games .

As an independent genre originated in the 1930s. According to one version, the American magazine Astounding Science Fiction played an active role in the development of the genre.
