Story

Students Marie and Alex are sent to the country house of Alex's parents to calmly and without fuss prepare for the upcoming exams. At the same time, a maniac — a psychopath — a fat man in a cap and overalls was driving around in his old truck around the district. At night, he calls in at Alex's parents' house. There he kills his father, who came to knock, tearing his head off with the help of a chest of drawers. A maniac kills his mother with a razor, Alex shoots a shotgun at his younger brother, and also abducts herself by tying him in chains. Marie manages to escape only by a miracle, due to the fact that the maniac did not suspect her presence in the house, since a smart girl swept over the traces of her presence. Nevertheless, after all these events, Marie gets into the bloodshed van of the killer with the intention of saving Alex from imminent death. But attempts to free her are futile. After some time, the van stops near a gas station. Marie escapes from it and rushes to the store, but there is also a maniac. After a short conversation with the seller (apparently, he knew the killer), he kills him by planting on an ax. The girl is hiding in the toilet cubicle while the killer methodically examines the premises. However, having driven her into a trap, he disappears somewhere. Then Marie calls the police, and then chases the maniac in a car taken at a gas station. She enters the forest for a maniac, but he somehow overtakes her and knocks her car into a ditch. Marie gets head injuries, but survives and goes to the greenhouse. There he still finds her and strangles her with a packet, but Marie kills Maniac with a stick wrapped in barbed wire, literally turning her head into porridge. Marie yells in exasperation over the body of her enemy ...

Meanwhile, the police come to the gas station and watch the recordings from the surveillance camera . It shows how the tanker ... kills Marie. It becomes clear that the killer was Marie, who has a mental disorder - a split personality , and her second personality is a man. The next morning, Marie frees Alex, but she takes a knife and says that Marie killed her whole family. But Marie does not understand what her friend is talking about and says that "now they will be fine." Alex wounds her with a kitchen knife and runs away, but Marie chases Alex with a circular chainsaw as a maniac. Alex runs to the road and catches the car, but she pulls over to the sidelines and for some reason does not start anymore! Despite this, Alex still sits in it. Marie kills the driver, blowing her stomach through the windshield ... Meanwhile, Alex gets out of the car, but pushes the shard into the foot. Marie asks if she loves her. Alex responds with consent for the sake of salvation. Marie leans over and passionately kisses her on the lips. Alex pokes her right through with a nail clipper found in the car, but Marie doesn't even notice it. She tells Alex that she will not let anyone stand between them.

At the end of the film, Marie is shown in a mental hospital .

Criticism

Many viewers at one time noted that the first half of the film is much similar to Dean Kunz ’s novel “ Charmed by Blood ” and its film adaptation of the same name [2] . Already at the Sudanese Film Festival in 2004, he admitted that he had read the novel and was aware that the stories were similar [3] . In turn, Kuntz himself on his website said that he knew about the similarities, but would not sue for plagiarism, because he did not like the film so much that he least wanted his name to ever be associated with him [ 4] .

Grades

  • Sergey Kudryavtsev ( KinoPoisk ) - 5 points out of 10 [5]

According to the review, the film "there is a highly stressed atmosphere, streaming human blood, as well as uncontrollable passion in human relations." It is also noted that "the film begins like many American youth horror films (like" I know what you did last summer "or" The Texas Chainsaw Massacre "), and ends in an original, but somewhat confusing way. <...> Most of the film is replete with spectacular moments, but by the end the picture turns into a psychopathological drama that makes the viewer think. ” It is precisely such story changes that the review characterizes as a “contradiction”.
