General Information
Born on August 14, 1983 in Kiev. Elena is the daughter of two formerly famous Soviet athletes. Her father, Sergei Baltacha , played very successfully for Dynamo Kiev , Metalist Kharkiv and the USSR national football team , and her mother Olga represented the USSR at the Pentathlon Olympics .
The elder brother Sergey continued the work of his father and played football professionally, speaking for Scottish clubs.
Baltacha first came to tennis at age 6. With 10 engaged in this sport more actively. Elena considered hard and grass as her favorite coatings.
In December 2013, some time after completing her career, Elena married her former coach Nino Severino [1] .
In March 2014, Baltache was diagnosed with liver cancer [2] . May 4 of the same year she died [3] .
