Kanizha ( Serb. Kanija ) is a community in Serbia , part of the North Banat District of the Vojvodina Autonomous Region. The community is located in the historical and geographical area of Banat .

Ethnic structure
According to the 2002 Serbian census, the main ethnic groups in the community [3] are :
- Hungarians - 23 802 people (86.52%);
- Serbs - 2037 people. (7.4%);
- Gypsies - 530 people. (1.92%);
Locations
On the territory of the community there are 13 settlements - the city of Kanizha and 12 villages: Adoryan , Velebit , Dolina , Zimonich , Male-Piyats , Mali-Pesak , Martonosh , Novo-Selo , Orom , Totovo-Selo , Trešnjevac and Horgos .
In the village of Velebit , the Serbian population predominates, in other settlements of the community - Hungarian.
Education
In the 2003–2004 school year, there were 10 primary and one secondary schools in the community, at that time (2003–2004), there were 2,439 pupils in basic schools and 698 pupils in the secondary school.
