The monument to the ruble in Tomsk is a wooden sculpture weighing 250 kilograms and 2.1 meters high, made in a realistic manner, in the form of a coin in denominations of one Russian ruble of the sample of 1997 (version 2007) on a scale of 100: 1. Made from pine . It has a natural color of wood, it is covered with a special transparent solution protecting it from moisture. Later, for some time, was placed in a transparent plastic case [1] .

From June 10, 2008 until May 8, 2014, it was installed on Novosobornaya Square in Tomsk , from where it was dismantled for the purpose of repairing damage caused by vandals [1] [2] .
On April 17-18, 2015, as part of the 6th exhibition-fair "Your Personal Finance" was installed on the square in front of the Tomsk Philharmonic , and a few days later placed in the reconstruction of the Tomsk fortress at the Tomsk History Museum on Voskresenskaya Hill .

History
The monument to the wooden ruble was established on June 10, 2008 as part of the IV Tomsk Carnival . The organizers of the carnival and the initiators of the installation of the monument were the Administration of the city of Tomsk and the advertising holding Media Advertising Digest . The festival's organizing committee has already submitted an application for making a wooden ruble in the Guinness Book of Records and the Book of Records of Russia, which placed the Tomsk monument to the ruble on its pages as the largest copy of the coin in the country [1] .
Symbols
The organizing committee of the festival explained its idea to make the ruble wooden in that Tomsk is associated for the residents and guests of the city with the word “wooden” thanks to the wooden architecture of Tomsk, as well as the richness of the land by wood.
