Herzegovina Flor ( cigarettes Herzegovina Flor ) - cigarettes , which are widely known for the fact that they were smoked by Joseph Vissarionovich Stalin , and also stuffed tobacco from cigarettes into his pipe [1] [2] [3] .
History and Etymology
The brand has been produced since pre-revolutionary times at the S. S. Gabay factory (then, the Java Factory) [4] . In the 1970s, they were exported to socialist countries [5] . There were also cigarettes of the same name in a hard pack [6] , produced by the tobacco factory “Java” (Moscow).
Java got such a name because for its production at the S. Gabay "actually used tobacco coming from the islands of Indonesia , and the basis of" Herzegovina Flor "was tobacco brought from Herzegovina - “the cradle of the Serbian people”, the area on the Balkan Peninsula .
The continued existence of the brand
The brand successfully survived the revolution and the Civil War . In the 1920s , he was marked by the talent of Vladimir Mayakovsky (“Any cigarettes will be given the form “ Herzegovina Flor “”). Already in later times, the production of Herzegovina Flor was transferred from Java to some other factories in the USSR . In the 1980s, the production of cigarettes with the Herzegovina Flor filter began.
