
The Battle of Surfaces is an exhibition match held by the Association of Professional Tennis Players (ATP) on May 2, 2007 . Held at the stadium Palma Arena in the city of Palma de Mallorca - native to the Spanish tennis player.
The match was attended by the 1st racket of the world Swiss Roger Federer and the 2nd in the ranking - Spaniard Rafael Nadal . The match made it unique that one half of the court was unpaved and the other grass. As a result, Nadal won with a score of 7-5, 4-6, 7–6 (12–10) .
The reason this court was constructed was to show the advantages of both tennis players on their “favorite surfaces”, since Federer dominated on grass courts (48 wins in a row), while Nadal dominated on clay courts (81 wins). Its construction cost $ 1,630,000 and took 19 days [1] .
