History
The first settlement on the territory of the village arose in 1737 , when the construction of the Lukazsky (name variants: Lugaz, Lugavsky) copper-smelting plant began in this place. The decision to create it was made at the same time as the decision to build the Irbinsky ironworks . The plant got its name from the Lugazka River (the modern name is Lugavka), on which it was located.
The place for construction was chosen taking into account the relief - a small hollow is surrounded on all sides by hills, which hid the plant from the raids of local nomadic tribes. Abundance in the forest district, which served as building material, as well as fuel, also played its role. However, a few years after the start of operation, the plant was closed due to unprofitability.
There is a legend about the origin of the name of the village, according to which during the fire in the local church only one icon remained unharmed - the Sign of the Sign . As a result, the name of this icon gave a name to the village.

Infrastructure
The village has a complete secondary school, a kindergarten, a post office, a cultural center, and several private trading enterprises. Initially, the highway M54 “Yenisei” passed through the village before the construction of the bypass road.
In addition to the local agricultural enterprise, the main employer for a long time was a distillery that worked on local raw materials (wheat). The plant was built before the revolution, after it began to be called the Proletarian distillery. After corporatization in the 90s of the 20th century, it became a branch of the Mininal alcoholic beverage company located in Minusinsk . In 2006, production at the distillery was stopped along with production at the main enterprise due to bankruptcy.
