Previously, the name Peoria Riverman was played by the teams of the International Hockey League (1984-1996; in 1982-1984, Peoria Transformers; winner of the Turner Cup 1985, 1991) and ECHL (1996-2005; winner of the 2000 Kelly Cup). In 2013, after the AHL franchise moved to New York State, a team called “Peoria Riverman” appeared in the Southern Professional Hockey League .
