Biography
Born on August 13, 1918 in the city of Torzhok, now the Tver region, in a family of an employee. A. A. Williamson's father, Alexander Khristoforovich Williamson, an Estonian , [1] born in Estonia, took part in the First World War, where he contracted tuberculosis. A year after the birth of his son, Alexander Khristoforovich died. Mother, Anna Mikhailovna, in 1922, moved with her children to Crimea, where she worked as a teacher in rural schools. Here, Alexander, in the village of Zuya in 1934, graduated from an incomplete secondary school (NSS) and entered the Yalta College of Southern Special Cultures, but, after completing two courses, in 1937 he moved to the city of Kerch and went to work at the Kerch Metallurgical Plant as an electrician. In the same place, in Kerch, entered the Kerch flying club. In 1938 he moved to Simferopol and worked as an electrician at the factory. Without interruption from production he graduated from the flying club . In May 1940 he was drafted into the Red Army and sent to the flight school on a Komsomol ticket.
In June 1941, he graduated from the Kachin Military Aviation Pilot School. Since July 1941, he took part in the Great Patriotic War , in the army. The entire combat path, from the rank-and-file pilot to the squadron commander, was part of the 298th (from August 24, 1943 - 104th Guards) fighter aviation regiment. The combat account was opened in August 1941 - in the area of the city of Zaporozhye, the He-111 bomber shot down. He fought on the South , North Caucasus , 1st , 2nd and 4th Ukrainian fronts. He fought in the skies of Ukraine , the North Caucasus , Poland and Germany . On board each of his aircraft was the inscription "For Vitali", in memory of a friend of Vitaly Gorokhov, who died in September 1941.
He fought in the 9th Guards Fighter Division, commanded by A.I. Pokryshkin. Member of the CPSU (b) / CPSU since 1943. Towards the end of the war, the captain of the guard squadron, Captain Williamson, made 382 sorties, personally shot down eighteen in sixty-six air battles and six enemy planes as part of the group. He won the last victory in the sky over Berlin on April 28, 1945. By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of June 27, 1945, Captain Williamson Alexander Alexandrovich was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal (No. 7875). June 24, 1945 participated in the historic Victory Parade on Red Square in Moscow .
After the war, A. A. Williamson continued to serve in the USSR Air Force . In 1953 he graduated from the highest officer flight tactical courses. He was the deputy commander, and from 1958 to 1960 - the commander of the 764th Air Defense Fighter Regiment. In the spring of 1960, the regiment pilots participated in the hunt for the U-2 reconnaissance aircraft, which was later shot down by anti-aircraft gunners. In 1960, the guard, Colonel A.A. Williamson, for health reasons, went into reserve. Since 1963 he worked in the Aeroflot system: in Kamchatka , then in Simferopol as a dispatcher at the airport. He lived in Simferopol. He died on February 23, 1986. He was buried in the Abdal cemetery in Simferopol.
Memory
- On May 9, 2009, the name of Alexander Williamson was assigned to the MiG-31 aircraft of the Perm Fighter Aviation Regiment (military unit Sokol, Bolshoi Savino airfield).
- One of the streets of Simferopol bears the name of Williamson A. A. (district of Rocket Street), on the house where he lived at the address. Vorovsky, d. 60 installed a memorial plaque.
- Municipal budgetary educational institution “Zuyskaya Secondary School No. 1 named after A. A. Williamson ”, located at the address: Belogorsky district, Zuya village, Shosseinaya street, 39.
