Thomas Stanley ( born Thomas Stanley ; c. 1405 - February 20, 1459 ) - English aristocrat , King of the Isle of Man since 1437, 1st Baron Stanley since 1456 . Member of the Privy Council, controller of the royal palace, Lord Lieutenant of Ireland (1431-1436), chief steward of the Lancaster duchy, knight of the Lancashire forest , constable and Justiciary of Chester , chamberlain of North Wales , Lord Chamberlain of England (1455-1459).

Biography
Thomas Stanley was the eldest son of Sir John Stanley (c. 1386 - 1432 ), King of the Isle of Man ( 1414 - 1432 ), and Isabelle Harington, daughters of Robert de Harington and Isabelle Loring.
From 1431 to 1436 he was Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, and also represented Lancashire in the House of Commons in 1447 - 1451 and in 1453 - 1454 .
On January 15, 1456, Thomas Stanley was called to the House of Lords as 1st Baron Stanley, and a year later became a knight of the Order of the Garter .
In February 1459, Thomas Stanley died, his eldest son Thomas became his successor.
