Properties
Sodium salicylate is the sodium salt of salicylic acid . On physical properties: white crystalline powder or small flavourless flakes, sweet-salty taste. Very soluble in water (1: 1), soluble in alcohol (1: 6). Solutions (pH 6.0-7.0) are sterilized at +100 ° C for 30 minutes.
It can be obtained by the Kolbe – Schmitt method from sodium phenolate and carbon dioxide at high temperature and pressure [1] .
