Alice Mitchell Rivlin ( March 4, 1931 , Philadelphia - May 14, 2019) is an American economist and educator. The daughter of physicist Alan Mitchell and the granddaughter of astronomer Samuel Alfred Mitchell .

Biography
She received her Ph.D. from Radcliffe College (1958). She taught at George Mason University, New York University. President of the American Economic Association (1986). Prize winner Caroline Shaw Bell (1998) of the Committee on the Status of Women in the Economic Profession . Since 1989, R. married (second marriage) to the well-known economist S.J. Winter .
