Akinori Nakayama ( Jap. 山 山 規 ма Nakayama Akinori , born March 1, 1943 in Nagoya , Prefect. Aichi , Japan ) is a Japanese gymnast, six-time Olympic champion and multiple world champion. In terms of the number of Olympic gold awards in all sports among all Asian athletes, it is second only to its partner in the Japanese national team, Savao Kato .

During his career, Akinori won 6 gold medals, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals. He acted as a member of the team as a leader, and individually. Successes Akinori Nakayama inspired gymnasts around the world. In 2005, the name Akinori Nakayama was included in the World Gymnastics Hall of Fame ( Oklahoma City , USA ). He is currently Vice-President of the Japan Gymnastics Association.
Interesting Facts
On March 25, 1969, the Mongolian Post issued a series of postage stamps (No. 520-527 + Post Block No. 120). On the stamp №527 with the face value of 1 Tugrik, Akinori Nakayama is depicted while performing exercises on the rings.
