The Leningrad Suvorov border military school of the USSR Ministry of Internal Affairs is a military educational institution located in Kutaisi (from 1943 to 1946 ) and in Leningrad (from 1946 to 1960 ) [1] .
History
In August 1943, the leadership of the NKVD came to the SNK of the USSR with a proposal to open the Suvorov military schools of the NKVD. On September 4, 1943, the Council of People's Commissars of the USSR adopted Decree No. 946 on the creation of the Suvorov Military Schools of the NKVD in the cities of Kutaisi and Tashkent .
The first graduation took place in Kutaisi in 1946 : 55 graduates, two with gold medals. In 1946, by a resolution of the Council of Ministers of the USSR of May 4, the school was transferred to the city of Petrodvorets of the Leningrad Region and became known as the Leningrad Suvorov Border Military School of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. [2] Unlike the scarlet epaulettes and stripes of Suvorov soldiers of the Soviet Army, the school epaulets and stripes were cornflower blue (at least in 57-60 years - green) .
Activities
In the Kutaisi IED, the NKVD was supposed to train mainly the sons of officers, generals and civilian employees of the troops and bodies of the NKVD and the NKGB for admission to military schools and further service in these departments in the officer rank. Orders No. 605 and 606 of September 27, 1943 of the People's Commissar of Internal Affairs of the USSR for many years determined the order of recruitment, training and education in IED of the NKVD. In 1943 , the People’s Commissar of Internal Affairs of the USSR was directly involved in the affairs of the IED of the NKVD, Colonel General V.N. Merkulov, his deputies, Lieutenant-General A.N. Apollonov, G.G. THE USSR.
In 1946, the personnel of the Kutaisi IED of the Ministry of Internal Affairs had to start all over again. By a resolution of the Council of Ministers of the USSR of May 4, it was relocated to Petrodvorets of the Leningrad Region, and on July 30, Suvorovites arrived at a new place of study. The military camp, where the school is located, suffered wounds received during the years of fascist occupation. In the town in 1946, many cadets of the border school did a lot, but a significant part of the work fell on the share of military builders, as well as Suvorovites. A birch grove rustled on the former parade ground, a bust of A. V. Suvorov appeared on the site in front of the main building, and on the low pedestal the plaster group “Border guard with a dog” appeared. The concept of " Suvorov town " firmly entered the life of the revived Petrodvorets and remained in the memory of the townspeople.
The dissolution of the IED of the Ministry of Internal Affairs began in the context of the next restructuring of state power structures. In early 1960 , the country's highest authorities and administrations decided to reduce the Armed Forces by 1 million 200 thousand people. It touched the bodies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the KGB under the Council of Ministers of the USSR. On January 13, 1960 , by a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, the USSR Ministry of Internal Affairs was abolished, and its functions were transferred to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Union republics. On March 29, 1960 , the chairman of the KGB at the Council of Ministers of the USSR A.N. Shelepin sent a note to the Council of Ministers of the USSR with a proposal to disband the KGB LSPVU. The Leningrad SPVU of the KGB ceased to exist on October 20, 1960 . In the fall of 1960, the Suvorov soldiers of the disbanded KGB were invited to continue their studies at the Sverdlovsk Suvorov Military School.
