EtymologyThe specific name is derived from the Latin word glomero ( -avi , -atum , -are ) - β wrap , twist, twist, pile, pile up, pile upβ [3] .
Apparently, the name reflects the dense arrangement of flowers in the inflorescence.
English name: The Ball Dendrobium.
Biological DescriptionSympodial plants of medium size.
The pseudobulbs are thin, reed-shaped, hanging down, covered with whitish membranous sheaths of leaves, 25-50 cm in length.
Leaves are lanceolate, dark green, fall off on mature pseudobulbs.
Inflorescences are short, are formed in the upper internodes of pseudobulbs, bear 3-10 flowers.
Flavourless flowers , red-carmine color, 3-5 cm in diameter. Flowering time is more than 7 days.
Distribution, environmental featuresMoluccas , Western New Guinea .
Epiphytus . Mountain forests at an altitude of 1200 meters above sea level and above.
Belongs to the number of protected species (II CITES appendix)
In CultureThe temperature group is warm [4] .
Planting on a block , a small basket for epiphytes or a pot with a substrate of medium and large fractions of pine bark . The substrate must not impede the movement of air.
Dendrobium glomeratum requires warm, humid conditions, with winter minimum night temperatures of 15β18 Β° C.
Lighting - 30% of direct sunlight.
During active vegetation, watering is regular. In winter, watering is reduced, but the roots of the plant should not remain dry for a long time [5] .
