Etymology

The specific name is derived from the Latin word glomero ( -avi , -atum , -are ) - β€œ wrap , twist, twist, pile, pile up, pile up” [3] .
Apparently, the name reflects the dense arrangement of flowers in the inflorescence.

English name: The Ball Dendrobium.

Biological Description

Sympodial plants of medium size.
The pseudobulbs are thin, reed-shaped, hanging down, covered with whitish membranous sheaths of leaves, 25-50 cm in length.
Leaves are lanceolate, dark green, fall off on mature pseudobulbs.
Inflorescences are short, are formed in the upper internodes of pseudobulbs, bear 3-10 flowers.
Flavourless flowers , red-carmine color, 3-5 cm in diameter. Flowering time is more than 7 days.

Distribution, environmental features

Moluccas , Western New Guinea .

Epiphytus . Mountain forests at an altitude of 1200 meters above sea level and above.

Belongs to the number of protected species (II CITES appendix)

In Culture

The temperature group is warm [4] .
Planting on a block , a small basket for epiphytes or a pot with a substrate of medium and large fractions of pine bark . The substrate must not impede the movement of air.
Dendrobium glomeratum requires warm, humid conditions, with winter minimum night temperatures of 15–18 Β° C.
Lighting - 30% of direct sunlight.
During active vegetation, watering is regular. In winter, watering is reduced, but the roots of the plant should not remain dry for a long time [5] .
