Description

The domino principle means that a small change in the first element of the chain causes similar changes in neighboring elements, which then cause similar changes in the next, and so on in a linear sequence. This term is most often used as a description of mechanical stress, but is sometimes used as an analogy to the fall of dominoes. As a rule, one speaks of a connected sequence of events when the time between them is relatively small. The term can be used literally (an observed series of actual clashes) or as a metaphor for more complex systems (financial, political), when the relationship between events is rather arbitrary.

Knuckles stand (above) and fall (below)

The classic demonstration of the domino effect involves the creation of a chain of dominoes placed on the edge. If the dominoes are standing next to each other, then you should slightly push the first one, as all the other tiles in the chain begin to fall. The first link in the chain affects adjacent knuckles, and so on. It is curious that even long chains of dominoes will fall. This is because the energy required for each fall is less than the energy that is transmitted during each collision. Therefore, the chain is self-sufficient to maintain a chain reaction.

Records

Special demonstrations of the fall of dominoes. Competitions are arranged to build the longest possible demonstration chain. The last world record was set in 2009 , when 4491863 knuckles fell. A year earlier, on Domino Day 2008, 4345027 knuckles fell. An interesting case occurred in 2005, when a sparrow, Dominomyus , flew into the hall and fluttered 23,000 knuckles prepared for the record. The bird then died from the guard's bullet, and during the establishment of a new record, its memory was honored with the appropriate composition. [one]
