Arto Tunchboyajyan ( Armenian Արտո Թունջբոյաջյան ; tour. Arto Tunçboyacıyan , 1957 , Istanbul ) [2] [3] - Armenian avant-garde musician, multi-instrumentalist, composer. Winner of Grammy Awards and World Music Award, performs in many genres: folk, jazz, ambient, folk rock. Honored Worker of Culture of the Republic of Armenia (2017).

Creativity
A well-known singer of avant-garde folklore (singer, multi-instrumentalist ), he released more than 200 records in Europe before becoming famous in the USA, where he came to work with such famous jazz legends as Chet Baker , Al Di Meola and Joe Zawinul , as well as with Paul Winter and the Earth Band. [four]
Arto created his own group “ Armenian Navy Band ”. He collaborated with Turkish singer Cesen Aksu and Greek singer Eleferia Arvanitaki . Also a member of the Night Ark group . His brother, Onno Tunchboyajyan , was also a musician.
His 2001 album Aile Muhabbeti tur was used as a soundtrack for two films: “Side Impacts” (2001) [5] and “My dad is an engineer” (2004) [6] .
Serart is a joint project with Serge Tankyan (leader of the System of a Down group), which resulted in the release of the album of the same name.
There is a hidden track in the Toxicity album of the System of a Down group, where Arto and the members of the group sing the anthem of the Armenian church “Ter vogormya” (Lord, have mercy). After the last composition of the album - “ Aerials ” a short pause follows, and then it sounds. This composition is known as “Arto”, due to the fact that Arto performed a significant part of it. He also plays in the instrumental part of the song “Science” of the same album. His voice is heard several times in the interlude of the song "Bubbles" of the album " Steal This Album! ".
In 2006 he was awarded the BBC Radio 3 Awards for World Music .
In 2007 , together with another Armenian from Turkey - rock singer Yashar Kurt , he created the band Yash-ar. Yash-ar is derived from the beginning of the names Arto and Yashar.
In 2008, he wrote the music for the film " Plato " and participated in its recording.
In 2011, he performed the soundtrack for the first Armenian interactive film “AlaBalaNitsa” (the creators of the film Hayk Marutyan and Mkrtich Arzumanyan are popular comedians in Armenia) [7]
