Biography
Anatoly Davydovich Shafran was born March 22, 1931 in Leningrad, RSFSR, USSR. He graduated from the chemical and technological faculty of LIKI (1951) and the camera department of VGIK , in the workshop of P. Nogin (1969). Operator of Lenkinochronika (1963-66), Far Eastern studio of newsreel (1966-67), LSDF (1968-70), Belarus film (1971-73), Georgian studio xr.doc. and science pop. films (1975-85) [1] . Since 1990, he lived in the United States, worked on Russian-American Television.
March 10, 1966 in Leningrad took part in the unauthorized filming of the funeral and burial of the poetess Anna Akhmatova together with the director S.D. Aranovich , cameraman Viktor Petrov and others [2] . In 1989, the footage was used by S. D. Aranovich in the documentary film “The Personal File of Anna Akhmatova ” [3] . He died on January 5, 2003 in Helsinki, Finland. Buried in the city of Lod, Israel.
