Anime Soul Eater ( ソ ウ ル イ ー タ ー co: ru and: that:) was created under the direction of director Takui Igarashi . Bones and Aniplex Studios were directly involved in the animation and musical accompaniment of the anime, but the media holding Dentsu , the publishing house Media Factory and the television company TV Tokyo also participated in the creation of the anime series. The anime series is based on the manga of the same name by Atsushi Okubo, [1] the plot of which follows the adventures of Maki Albarn, the “lord” of the Shinigami Academy, and her partner, Soul Itera, one of those who can turn his body into a specific weapon (in his case is a scythe).
The anime series was broadcast on TV Tokyo from April 7, 2008 to March 30, 2009, a total of 51 episodes were released. The series was later aired again on various channels, including TV Aichi, TV Hokkaido, TV Osaka, TV Setouchi and TVQ Kyushu Broadcasting. From August 22, 2008 to August 25, 2009, DVDs of the television series were released (about 13 separate anime editions were released), [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8] [9] [ 10] [11] [12] [13] [14] after which permission was obtained for the licensed edition in the form of 4 half-season box sets (license Finimation). [15] Two Blu-ray box sets were also published, each of which had both an original audio track and an English one; the first one was released on January 26, 2011, [16] and the second on March 23, 2011. [17] On September 30, 2010, the anime, already titled Soul Eater: Repeat Show , was again shown on TV Tokyo’s broadcast network. [18] On February 17, 2013, Soul Eater started in the Adult Swim animation block. [nineteen]
As a musical accompaniment, 6 musical compositions were used: two as an opening theme of anime (opening) and four as a closing (an ending). The first 30 episodes are played as the opening song by “Resonance” performed by TMRevolution, later replaced by “Papermoon” by Tommy Heavenly 6 . The first thirteen episodes are closed by Stance Punks with the track “I Wanna Be”, the next 13 episodes (from 14 to 26) used the song “Style” performed by Kana Nishino as the ending, then Soul'd Out's Diggy replaces it for another 13 episodes Mo with the track “Bakusō Yume Uta” (爆走 夢 歌), after which, until the end of the series, “Strength” performed by Abingdon Boys School serves as the closing composition. When broadcasting under the name Soul Eater: Repeat Show, instead of the above compositions, two additional openings and two additional endings were used:
- Episodes 1-12 - opening: “Counter Identity” performed by Unison Square Garden, ending: “Ao no Kaori” (碧 の 香 り) performed by Yui Makino
- Episodes 13-51 - opening: “Ai ga Hoshii yo” (愛 が ほ し い よ?) By Sion Tuji, ending: “Northern Lights” by How Merry Marry. [18]
