Monocular vision is characterized by the fact that objects and moving objects that fall into the field of vision of a watching subject are perceived mainly by only one eye .
Under normal conditions, a person who does not have any abnormalities in vision, uses binocular vision, that is, perceives visual information through two eyes. Monocular vision is measured in angular values.
Unlike humans, birds have very extensive, circular vision. They see not only in front of themselves, but also on the sides, and partly - behind them. The eyes of the birds are located on the sides. The quality of vision in birds exceeds the visual acuity of a person by 4-5 times.
Their total field of view reaches more than 300 ° (the field of view of each bird's eye is 150–170 °, thereby 50 ° more than in humans). Bird vision is primarily monocular and lateral ( lateral ). His general field is limited to about 70 degrees. At the same time, the owl eyes are completely immobile, which is compensated by the mobility of the neck (about 270 °).
