Julius Schiller ( German: Julius Schiller ) ( 1580 - 1627 ) - German lawyer from Augsburg , Germany , amateur astronomer, engaged in celestial cartography.

Biography
In the last year of his life, Schiller, with the support of Johann Bayer , published the atlas of the starry sky Coelum Stellatum Christianum . This work was an attempt to complete the Christian Atlas of the Starry Sky. Although Schiller’s atlas was mainly based on Bayer ’ Uranometry atlas, it represents a radical departure from traditional classical constellations, as its goal was to clear the heavens from traces of paganism by remaking the constellations to represent biblical characters.
The zodiacal constellations in the atlas of Schiller were replaced by the twelve apostles , the constellations north of the zodiacal ones were replaced by images from the New Testament , and to the south by images from the Old Testament . So, Cassiopeia became Mary Magdalene for him, Hercules became the Three Magi , the Centaurus was divided into Abraham and Isaac , and the former huge constellation Ship Argo , now divided into Kiel , Korma and Sail , naturally turned into Noah's ark .
The planets, the sun and the moon have also been replaced with biblical images. But, despite the great power of the church in those years, the new names of the constellations did not receive recognition.
A crater on the moon is named in his honor.
