The first two parts, very well received by the players, were more successful than Rayman 3 , due to insufficient promotion of a new project before going on sale. The game has many references to the culture of the 60s.

Story
All the game takes place in the so-called “Crossroads of Dreams” and their world countries.
Andre, the leader of the Zlum, is Lum, who grew up evil and ill-bred. One night, he turns the Red (good) Lumi into Zlumov, creating his own army from them. During this incident, Murphy, one of the members of the Fairy Council, discovers Andre. He finds Murphy hiding under a mushroom and chases after him. Murphy encounters Rayman and Globoks sleeping peacefully in a small clearing. He raises the confusion, Globoks wakes up and they try to carry away to a safe place a lethargic and sleepy protagonist. During this process, Globox accidentally pulls out Rayman's hands, forcing Murphy to lift him by the hair and lead him away. In an attempt to escape, Globox escapes danger with Rayman's hands.
Over time, more and more Zlumov invade the forest. When they reach the entrance to the Council, Rayman and Murphy find Globoks hiding in a barrel of plum juice. Rayman gets his hands back (again gaining the ability to accumulate and throw clots of energy at enemies), but Globox, again frightened, runs away inside the Fairy Council building, breaking the door: Andre and his two followers are chasing him. In the end, Rayman and Murphy recognize Andre's sinister plan: he wanted to defile the Heart of the World with the intention to recreate this energy, but turn it into an army of Black Lumas. Despite this, the couple continues to chase, but the Globoks arrived in time accidentally swallows Andre flying by. Now the Heart Heart of Peace monitors instruct Rayman to find a doctor to get rid of Andre sitting in Globox’s stomach.
Along the way, Rayman meets with three “ doctors ” .. Otto Psi (a stereotypical doctor, treats by imitating playing a guitar), Romeo Patti (a hippie who treats by playing on Globox’s stomach like a drum) and Gonzo (a master of oriental medicine) . Since all three doctors crashed while independently cleaning Globox from Andre, they manage to get rid of him only after some collective work. But the villain manages to sneak out and, still not embarrassed by his plans for world domination, to unite with Reflux, the warrior warrior and shaman of the Knaar tribe, with whom Rayman fought in a duel to prove his worth in the Knaar race and stay alive. Left without power, Reflux despairs and wants to get rid of Rayman, so he decides to unite with Zlum.
In the final duel, Rayman wins, destroying Reflux (which merged with the Knaar god Leptis), and turns Andre back into the Red Luma. Soon after, Rayman and Globox return to the clearing where they were at the very beginning. Globox, already accustomed to Andre, shares his grief with Rayman about Andre's return to the Red Lumas. Rayman tries to console him, saying that there really is no way to get Andre back. Both, laughing, fall asleep. In the next scene, it appears that Rayman’s hands are the “true enemies” in the game — they separate from him while he sleeps and run away to go scare the nearby Red Lum. Frightened Lum turns back into Andre, and even more evil. A further story is already being told in the GBA game Rayman: Hoodlums' Revenge (2005).
Gameplay
The gameplay has remained almost unchanged since the days of Rayman 2 , the following innovations bring additional interest to the game:
- Introduced special suits. Previously, for example, to catch a hook, you just had to hit him in flight or in a fall, but in a new game you need to find a special suit (it is usually located near the hooks), and only then you can catch. The situation is also complicated by their dependence on time: some costumes “live” in just a few seconds.
- To "put on" a special suit, you need to find a "tin can" ("canned food" - as Murphy called them after reading the label), they can be obtained by destroying key enemies, freeing friends or opening secret rooms.
- At some levels, Rayman must reach the end of the track or tunnel using a skateboard or snowboard, collecting bonus jewels along the way.
- In special places, in order to get into a hard-to-reach zone, Rayman can decrease in size so that he is completely in his sneaker in a sitting position, and then ride it like a car. To increase back in size, you need to catch another shoe, crashing into it three times.
- Moving between world countries takes place in an interactive surreal tunnel, decorated in the style of the 60s of the United States.
Characters
Rayman
The protagonist is the protagonist of the game. The main action takes place under his control. For the first time, the origin of the hairstyle is explained: it is the hairline (previously there was a version about the ears). In the game, Rayman’s character is practically not revealed, as opposed to other characters, whose personalities are perfectly drawn.
Globox
The second main character and Rayman's best friend. "A huge blue toad," - so often described by his many characters in the game. Very talkative. Throughout the game, we will listen to his complaints, groans, screams, humorous opinions about anything, etc. Globox is “ allergic ” to plum juice (however, Andre is trying to get this juice to drink, which he succeeds in), the effects of which are “gas glutes” (Globox’s stomach swells, he takes off and hovering above the ground), “alcoholic” intoxication (as a result of which he “braves” and even takes a fighting stance) and bubbles from his mouth (you can and must jump on them: they are important elements of passing a level). He runs away from enemies, afraid of even small movements in the bushes. The plot is centered precisely on Globoks and his " illness " .. ", as well as his abduction (in almost every world he manages to fall into the hands of enemies). Almost all the time he will accompany Rayman on a journey.
Murphy
Outwardly resembles a large toad with wings of a fly and with a half-mouth mouth. Gives tips on completing the beginner levels. The character teaches the player the basics of the game, while constantly moving out of his role as “friend Rayman” and arguing with the “Leadership of the game” and the project manager (through the dialogue it turns out that Murphy is talking on the headset).
Andre
The main villain looks like a black fly with a huge mouth. At first, annoyed by the ridiculous fate, he soon begins to perceive Globox as a “fortress”, in which it is convenient to hide from enemies. Exhaustes Globoks, makes him drink plum juice, subjugating his body. Andre and Globoks, being inseparable, argue and talk all the time, and Globoks even calls him “Andy” and does not give up the idea of re-educating him.
Razoff
The hunter from the location "Moody Swamp", in appearance similar to either a tinsi or a large tailless lizard. He dreams of adding Rayman's skin to his trophy collection. Has a mansion in which the player will visit as the game progresses. A good monster lives in his dungeons, helping the main hero in the main battle with Razoff, preventing Raymen from falling.
Runner
Witch from the location "Moody Swamp". Turns those around her into frogs. Very romantic and in love with Razoff, which does not hide. In one of the levels, Rayman forces her to open a portal to the outskirts of Razoff's mansion.
Reflux
Champion Knaarov, the strongest warrior of his people. Rayman meets with him and wins the battle in the Knaar Desert. Almost all fellow tribesmen turn away from the affected Reflux, and Andre uses this: he convinces him to steal the staff of Leptis (the leader of the Knaars). He succeeds, and Reflux at the very end, having performed the ancient rite at the peak of the Leptis Tower, unites with the god Knaar. Having achieved tremendous power, Reflux struggles with Rayman with all his might, but in the end dies.
His own name is interesting: it means (in chemical and physical terms) the movement of the unnatural.
Healers
- Otto Psi - a stereotypical doctor, treats by imitating playing the guitar;
- Romeo Patti - a hippie who treats Globox by playing on his stomach like on a drum;
- Gonzo is a master of oriental medicine, a specialist in voids.
The healers were able to cure Globox of Andre's parasitism only by teaming up: no one could cope with Andre alone.

Basically, the criticism was positive, but several “matured” dialogues of heroes were noted, which is not typical for children's play. At the same time, the productive graphics engine and the overall technical perfection of the game were praised [18] (no critical patches were released).
Version Differences
Java
Rayman 3 was developed by Gameloft for mobile phones (the game also had the option of adapting controls for N-Gage ) and was one of the first games that brought the company financial success. The game is made as a two-dimensional platformer, very similar to the founder of the series, but with the features of the original Rayman 3: a hair propeller, remote punch, design, etc.
GBA / N-Gage
The game versions for Game Boy Advance and N-Gage are almost identical.
Rayman 3 (2.5): Hoodlum Havoc was developed by Ubisoft as a 2D scrolling platform for the Game Boy Advance and N-Gage handheld game consoles in November 2003, but the release date was held until March 2004, unlike the console and PC versions .
The game is known among fans as Rayman 2.5 because it contains various plot and design elements from Hoodlum Havoc and Rayman 2.
