Projects and Research
The Institute provides scientific and technical services in the design of new types of furniture, the development and implementation of modern technologies for the production of furniture materials and their use in furniture, provides technical assistance in the organization and modernization of furniture and joinery construction. The organization conducts tests and certifies furniture and furniture materials.
History
In 1962, the All-Union Design and Construction and Technological Institute of Furniture was established on the basis of the Central Furniture Design Bureau.
The main tasks of the institute were design and research works in the field of design, production and decoration of furniture for residential and public buildings, and the introduction of furniture into production.
The institute in different years was administered:
- 1962 - 1965 - State Committee for Forestry, Pulp and Paper, Woodworking and Forestry under the State Planning Committee of the USSR
- 1965-1968, 1979-1988 - Ministries of Forestry, Pulp and Paper and Woodworking Industry of the USSR
- 1968-1979 - USSR Ministry of Forestry and Woodworking
- 1988–1991 - USSR Ministry of Forestry
The institute had branches in the cities of Bryansk , Ivanovo , Karachaevsk , Tula .
Since 1991, the institute has the status of an open joint-stock company (VKTIM OJSC). The organization is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Moscow State Forest University .
