Freiberg. At the age of 11, he began to write music on his own. After completing his studies in Berlin and Vienna, Krol worked for more than thirty years as a musician in German symphony orchestras: from 1945 to 1962 in the orchestra of the Berlin State Opera House , and from 1962 to 1979 in the orchestra of Stuttgart Radio . In addition to directly performing work, Bernhard Krol conducted active social activities. Creativity

A well-established and well-known musician, Bernhard Krol is also a prominent contemporary German composer. Most of his work is devoted to religious church music. Despite the fact that in his youth he seriously studied the atonal music of the so-called New Vienna School, Kroll prefers to use the traditional tonal system in his music. The most significant influences in his work include the music of Paul Hindemith and Max Reger . Krol is the author of about 180 works, including works for organ , choir , orchestral and chamber music, mainly devoted to church subjects. Also, a considerable part of his work is devoted to brass instruments . In 2007, Bernhard Krol received from Pope Benedict XVI the honorary title of Komtur for his services to the Catholic Church.
