Pando the Greedy ( Italian: Pandone il Rapace ) (died in 862/863 ) - the fourth Earl and the first independent prince of Capua in 861-862/ 863 .
Pando is the second son of Count Capua Landulf I , brother of Lando I and uncle Lando II . After the death of his father ( 843 ), Pando and his younger brother Landenulf became formally co-rulers of their older brother Lando I, but had no real power, and Pando left for Salerno .
After the death of his older brother Lando I (861), Pando returned to Capua and deposed Count Lando II, his nephew. The following year, 862, Pando declared Capua independent of the Principality of Salerno and assumed the title of Prince. During his short reign, Pando constantly fought with his neighbors and his deposed predecessor, Lando II. During the war, Pando captured Caserta , captured the nephew of Landenulf who ruled there (another son of Lando I) and destroyed the city. Following this, Pando built a watchtower in Caserta, later incorporated into the Royal Palace and became the center of the newly built city.
Pando died in one of the battles. After him were two sons Pandenulf , who twice occupied the throne of Capua, and Landenulf, since 879 the bishop of Capua .
