Parade of the Armed Forces of San Marino
The main composition of the armed forces of the state is involved in ceremonial events related to national holidays and meetings of foreign government delegations.
There is no compulsory military service, but all citizens from 16 to 55 years old can be recruited or voluntarily join special military units.
The cost of the army budgeted for the country is 700,000 US dollars (according to 2001 information).
San Marino is not part of NATO or the EU.
