The Orenburg District is an administrative-territorial unit of the Middle Volga Region (from October 20, 1929 - the Middle Volga Region ), which existed in 1928-1930 . The administrative center is the city of Orenburg .

Orenburg district was formed on May 14, 1928 . It consisted of the territories of the former Orenburg and Orsk counties of the Orenburg province .
July 30, 1930 Orenburg district, like most of the rest of the districts of the USSR, was abolished. Its districts moved to the direct subordination of the Middle Volga region .

In January 1929, the Sorochinsky district of the disbanded Buzuluk district was annexed to the district .
