It specializes in the production of diesel engines for long-haul road trains, heavy dump trucks, large and especially large city buses, agricultural and industrial tractors, off-road specialized machinery, diesel generator sets, road-building, river tugboats, as well as engines for KAMAZ sport trucks. . In addition, the company manufactures gearboxes and spare parts for engines of the YMZ and TMZ families, diesel electrical units. The engines produced by the company belong to the V8 family (V-type 8-cylinder diesel engines), with a capacity of 270 to 1000 hp.
The company was built in 1969-1973 as the Tutaev Diesel Units Plant (TZDA) .

Plant History
Tutaev Motor Plant was founded in 1968 . At first it was planned to build in Tutaev only a workshop for pistons and sleeves of the Yaroslavl Motor Plant. This was supposed to relieve a large industrial enterprise, YMZ, and at the same time give impetus to the development of a small town on the Volga. At that time, the population of Tutaev was only 16 thousand people.
However, a few years later, the plant became an enterprise with a full production cycle. For many years the plant was the town-forming enterprise of Tutaev. Simultaneously with the production facilities, the plant built housing, social and cultural facilities, utilities. Therefore, the history of the plant - this is the modern history of Tutaev.
Years and events
1968 - Resolution of the Government of the Central Committee of the CPSU on the construction of a workshop for pistons and sleeves of the Yaroslavl Motor Plant in Tutaev.
1970 - Start of construction of the housing of spare parts, sewage treatment plants and water supply systems.
1971 - Tutaev Diesel Units Plant was formed as a part of YaMZ. Two residential houses of 5357 sq. M. Were commissioned. m. (house number 46, 48 on the street Komsomolskaya).
1972 - The first stage of the body of spare parts was created, a wastewater treatment plant and a boiler room were built.
1973 - In January, production of spare parts for YaMZ (parts of a piston group for a family of Yaroslavl engines) began.
1974 - The first stage of the cast iron building was created, a compressor station was built. A new high school number 4 with 1000 places opened its doors. The first children received kindergarten number 1 "Fairy Tale" on Komsomolskaya Street (now there is a social rehabilitation center for children). Opened children's clinic.
1975 - June 11 - TZDA declared All-Union shock construction. Second lines of the body of spare parts and iron building were put into operation. A hotel was built on Komsomolskaya Street, shops “Supermarket” and “Clothes”.
1976 - The Resolution of the Council of Ministers was adopted, which provides for the creation of new engines YMZ-840, YaMZ-841 at the plant. House number 72, Komsomolskaya Street, No. 48, No. 50, No. 52, was put into operation on Motorostroiteley Street. Another shop and kindergarten No. 2 Teremok were commissioned.
1977 - Tutaev Diesel Units Plant becomes an independent enterprise with its own balance sheet as part of the Autodiesel Production Association. The construction of the iron foundry has been completed. Hostels No. 53 and 65 down the street Motrostroiteley were handed over, which made it possible to alleviate the housing problem.
1978 - Two kindergartens number 3 and number 4 were commissioned.

1982 - The opening of the Palace of Culture for 800 people was a real event for the city.
1983 - A decree of the Central Committee of the CPSU and the Council of Ministers of the USSR was issued, which assigned the production of YMZ-8423 engines for K-701 M tractors to TZDA. Construction of the forge-pressing shop (stage 1) and machine-assembly building (stage 1). A 1000 tons vegetable storage facility was built, SPTU-41.
1984 - The second stage of the forge shop was built. The restaurant Rus and a pharmacy on Sovetskaya Street opened in the city, school No. 1 for 1176 students.
1985 - By order of the Ministry of Automotive Industry of the TZDA, renamed to Tutaev Motor Plant. The second stage of the machine-assembly building and the third stage of the forging shop were commissioned. A hospital complex, a grocery store No. 8, an indoor market, a regional communications center with 4,000 rooms opened in Tutaev.
1986 - School No. 3 opened, an outpatient clinic, a public catering complex.
1987 - Capacities for the production of 4000 engines, forging shop were commissioned. Started to produce diesel engines. March 31 put the first motor. A store named Selkhozprodukty, a sausage shop, a studio and a registry office opened in Tutaev.
1988 - The youth center "Galaxy", a bookstore, was commissioned.
1989 - The plant had its own newspaper “Motorostroitel” (later renamed to “Tutaevsky motor-builder”). For the townspeople, a bath-and-laundry complex was built according to the most modern project. The shop "Raduga", a bus station with 100 seats, a bakery, a district boiler house were opened.
1990 - Instead of the inflatable, the Start complex was rebuilt, school No. 7 was opened.
1992 - Construction of a foundry unit - commissioning capacity for the production of 66 thousand tons of aluminum casting. Built library, swimming pool at school number 7.
1993 - TMZ received the status of an open joint-stock company (AOOT TMZ). Available in 10 engine modifications for tractors, heavy vehicles, wheel tractors.
1994 - Commissioning capacity for the production of 3 thousand gearboxes. The city opened an art school, House of Nature.
1995 - A prototype of the TMZ-770 bus engine was designed and manufactured.
1996 - 1997 - 29 modifications of 8-cylinder diesel engines are produced.
1998 - AOOT TMZ was renamed into Tutaev Motor Plant OJSC.
From November 6, 2002 to September 28, 2005, OAO TMZ went through all stages of bankruptcy. The bankruptcy procedure was started when the plant began to recover after the crisis of the 90s and was ready to pay on time not only wages and current payments of taxes and fees, but also to pay off debts of previous years, which were formed due to the maintenance of all social Sphere Tutaev.
January 15, 2004 - a fire in the iron foundry. Two months later, the first automatic molding line began to work, and after six months the workshop was restored completely.
2006 - The program “The main directions of development of Tutaev Motor Plant OJSC” was adopted.
2007 - Strategic partnership agreements were concluded with OJSC KAMAZ , OJSC Minsk Automobile Plant , OJSC Minsk Motor Plant, OJSC BelAZ .
The technological re-equipment of the machining production began. The first new generation machining center of the Japanese company MORI SEIKI appeared at the plant.
2008 - Design documentation was prepared for a new series of transmissions. In the iron foundry, the Inductoterm foundry complex was launched.
2009 - Successfully completed the tests of the new gearbox. A pilot batch of 14.180 gearboxes was released.
2010 - The prototype of the gearbox 9.130 was manufactured. A 600 hp production engine has been launched. for the Minsk plant of wheel tractors. In cooperation with the Minsk Engine Plant, a prototype engine with electronically controlled fuel injection was manufactured. The plant began the implementation of energy conservation programs.
2011 - Increased engine production. During the year, 1,218 units were produced (306 more than in 2010).
2012 - The practical implementation of the energy saving program, production optimization began.
2013 - The range of products for the Russian Railways, Minsk Motor Plant and JSC PTZ was expanded. On November 12, the plant was visited by the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev.
2014 - A new engine series for tractors 8483.10 was developed. As a result of the technical re-equipment of the systems of heat, steam and hot water supply, the operation of the factory boiler room was stopped.
2015 - The development of the TMZ-880 engine design began.
