Ludwig Bachmann ( August 11, 1856 , Kulmbach - June 22, 1937 , Munich ) - German chess historian ; initiator of the publication of the annual Schachjahrbuch ( 1891 - 1930 ). He is the author of a number of chess textbooks and works on the history of chess, including biographies of A. Andersen , G. Pilsbury , V. Steinitz and R. Haruzek .
