Reconstructed carriage in Vologda
Karetnik - a building for carriages, horses, related equipment and needs. As a rule, a wooden, rarely stone, detached one-story building. The structure of the building usually included a crew shed (two if necessary), a stable with several stalls, a covered courtyard with a dunghill and a glacier .
Out of the huge number of once carriages that existed, only a few reached the 21st century. In Russia, preserved carriages are located in St. Petersburg ( the Commandant’s Office - a stone building in 1846 in the Peter and Paul Fortress , an architectural monument [1] ), Tomsk ( Ulitsa Trifonova , 12), carriages were reconstructed in Vologda (near the Upper Posad ) and Klin ( at the House-Museum of P.I. Tchaikovsky ).
