Mondville, together with two more communes - Giberville and Colombel - were chosen by the Metallurgical Society of Normandy ( SMN ) at the beginning of the 20th century as a compact location for their workers employed in the metallurgical industries opened here. In 1993, these industries were closed, which caused a significant economic downturn. Nowadays, port infrastructure, electronics (Bosch), and logistics enterprises operate in two industrial zones of Mondville. The largest shopping center in Normandy, Mondville 2, has been opened in the southern part of the commune.
