Medazepam - a drug of the benzodiazepine group, has a calming, anxiolytic, muscle relaxant, anticonvulsant effect, but the muscle relaxant and general inhibitory effects are relatively less pronounced. The soothing effect of the mezapam is combined with some activating effect. In this regard, it is considered as a “daily” tranquilizer, less disruptive during the day. The drug potentiates the action of sleeping pills, narcotic, analgesic drugs.

General Information
Greenish yellow crystalline powder. Practically insoluble in water, easily soluble in alcohol.
Medazepam is prescribed to patients with neurosis , psychopathy and other neuropsychiatric disorders with neurosis-like and psycho-like disorders accompanied by increased excitability, irritability, tension, anxiety, fear, emotional lability, as well as with withdrawal symptoms .
The absence of pronounced muscle relaxant and hypno-sedative properties makes it possible to prescribe medication to the weakened patients, the elderly and children.
Medazepam is taken orally (regardless of the meal). The daily dose is divided into 2-3 doses. Increasing the daily dose is recommended by increasing the evening dose.
For adults, the average single dose is 0.01-0.02 g (10-20 mg), the average daily dose is 0.03-0.04 g (30-40 mg). The highest daily dose of mezapam for adults is 0.06-0.07 g (60-70 mg). Older people and adolescents are prescribed 0.01-0.02 g (10-20 mg) of the drug per day.
Despite the lesser depressant effect on the central nervous system, Medazepam should be used with care by persons whose work requires a quick mental and physical reaction.
During treatment, drowsiness, dizziness, constipation, disturbance of accommodation, tachycardia may occur, in isolated cases - insomnia. Contraindications are the same as for hlozepida .
Turnover Restrictions in the Russian Federation
In accordance with Decree No. 78 of the Government of the Russian Federation dated February 4, 2013, Medazepam was included in Schedule III of psychotropic substances, the circulation of which in the Russian Federation is limited and for which some control measures can be excluded in accordance with the legislation of the Russian Federation and international treaties of the Russian Federation.
