Livaro (canton)

Until 2015, the canton included the communes: Bella , La Brevier , La Chapelle-Haut-Gruy , Le-Menil-Baclay , Le-Menil-Duran , Le-Menil-Germain , Les-Hotel-Saint-Basilles , Le Moutiers-Hubert , Livaro (Calvados) , Lysore , Notre-Dame-de-Courson , Okenville , Saint-Germain-de-Mongomry , Saint-Martin-du-Menil-Uri , Saint-Michel-de-Livé , Saint Marguerite de Loges , Saint-Ouen-les- Ues , Saint-Foix-de- Mongomry , Tortisamber , Fervak , Chefreville-Tonnancourt , Ertvan .

As a result of the 2015 reform ^{[1], the} composition of the canton was changed. It completely included the abolished canton of Saint-Pierre-sur-Div and most of the canton of Orbec .

Since January 1, 2016, the composition of the canton has changed significantly due to the formation of the so-called. “New” communes: the communes of La Vespierre and Friardel merged into the new commune of La Vespierre Friardel ; the communes of La Breviere , La Chapelle-Haut-Gruy , Saint-Germain-de-Mongomry and Saint-Foix-de-Mongomry - to the new commune of Val-de-Vie ; the communes of La Chapelle-Yvonne , Saint-Julien-de-Mayoc , Saint-Pierre-de-Mayoc , Saint-Cyr-du-Ronciere and Torde — into the new commune of Valorbique ; and twenty-two communes - Bella , La Croupte , Le Menil-Baclay , Le Menil-Duran , Le Menil-Germain , Le Moutiers-Hubert , Les-Hotel-Saint-Basil , Livaro (Calvados) , Mölle , Notre-Dame-de-Curson , Oquenville , Preo-Saint-Sebastien , Saint-Martin-du-Menil-Uri , Saint-Michel-de-Lives , Saint-Marguerite-de-Louges , Saint-Ouen-les-Utes , Serkyo , Tortizamber , Famiyi , Fervak , Sheffreville-Tonnancourt and Ertvan - to the new commune of Livar-Pei-d'Auge , which became the center of the canton.

Since January 1, 2017, the composition of the canton has changed again: the thirteen communes that made up the canton of Saint-Pierre-sur-Div were merged into the new commune of Saint-Pierre-en-Aug .

In the 2017 presidential election, the canton residents cast in the 1st round of Marine Le Pen 30.3% of the vote against 23.2% of Francois Fillon , 18.2% of Emmanuel Macron and 14.7% of Jean-Luc Melanshon ; in the 2nd round, Macron won the canton, receiving 52.7% of the vote. (2012 1st round: Nicolas Sarkozy - 32.2%, Marine Le Pen - 23.1%, Francois Hollande - 21.6%; 2nd round: Sarkozy - 56.2%).

Since 2015, the canton has been represented on the Council of the Department of Calvados by the mayor of the new commune of Livar-Pei d'Auge , deputy of the National Assembly of France Sebastien Leclerc ( Republicans ) and mayor-delegate of the former commune Vodloz Veronique Memo ( Miscellaneous right ) .
