Story

The film takes place in Moscow, where an international circus jury arrives to select numbers of the Moscow circus on the Lenin Hills to participate in an international circus festival. The jury is delighted: one number is better than another and it is difficult to select the best for the competition.

At the same time, a delegation of zoophilologists (experts in animal languages ) arrives in Moscow. Members of this delegation travel to Moscow State University for a scientific conference. During a scientific meeting, Professor Ruzicka from Prague argues with her colleague from England, Mrs. Winstler, that even an elephant can be taught to sing, after which two scientists go to a circus in the neighborhood to conduct a scientific experiment - singing an elephant.

Grisha is in love with the daughter of the director of the circus Tanya. However, she is passionate about a young barman who accidentally poured juice on Grisha's jacket. Wanting to take revenge, Grisha goes to the director of the circus Ivanov and demands the dismissal of the waiter Alyosha. However, the director of the circus does not give this go-ahead, as he is preparing for an indicative performance before the international circus commission. Then Grisha decides to take revenge and disrupt the circus performance. He sprinkles sleeping pills, glues the plates, pits the waiter Alyosha with the circus director. But, despite all the intrigues, everything ends well and love wins. And the elephant sings.
