Name Origin
The square was named in 1967 in memory of cosmonaut Vladimir Mikhailovich Komarov (1927-1967). In 1964, he was the commander of the Voskhod spacecraft (together with B. B. Egorov and K. P. Feoktistov ). He died during a flight on the Soyuz-1 ship on April 24, 1967. The specification "cosmonaut" in the name was introduced to distinguish it from Akademika Komarova Street .
Description
It is located in the Petrovsky Park , in front of the entrance to the Petrovsky Travel Palace. It is adjacent to Krasnoarmeyskaya street, Palace, Summer, Lipovaya, Naryshkinskaya, Right Palace and Left Palace alleys.
