Noisettes

Noisettes is a British indie group, formed in 2003 in London , England , and performing dynamic pop rock , full of funk and soul elements [1] . The Allmusic reviewer defined the style of the band as “ Billy Holiday at the Head of White Stripes ” [2] . In 2009, the group achieved its first major commercial success: the single “Don't Upset The Rhythm” rose to # 2 in the UK Singles Chart [3] .

Group History

Noisettes were formed in 2003 when guitarist Dan Smith and singer Shingai Shoniva (Sonarfly members) invited drummer Jamie Morrison (formerly a member of Living With Eating Disorders, Willis, Six Toes, Jaywalk Buzz) to collaborate.

In 2004, the group recorded their debut EP Three Moods of the Noisettes : it was released on the London indie label Side Salad Records. The group became interested in the Universal Music Group and re-released the album in the USA on the imprint of Low Altitude. After releasing two more singles ("IWE", "Scratch Your Name"), the group switched to Vertigo Records . In 2006-2007, Noisettes toured Europe and the USA with TV on the Radio , Tom Vek, Babyshambles , Bloc Party , Mystery Jets , as well as Muse , who invited them on their 2006 tour [1] .

In 2007, the debut album What's the Time Mr. Wolf? (UK # 75). In 2008, the group (along with Paul Weller , Graham Coxon and others) took part in the release of a charity single in support of Crisis Consequences, a fund to help the homeless [4] .

On April 20, 2009, Wild Young Hearts released their second album. The single from it “Don't Upset The Rhythm” rose to # 2 in the UK Singles Chart .

In the spring of 2009, Noisettes went on a British tour, inviting little-known local groups [5] as “warm-up” in the summer of 2009, the group took part in Lady Gaga's European tour [6] .
