The salon was created by Fiat own design studio.
From the beginning of sales in September 2005, the model immediately became the bestseller of the company: until July 2006, 313,000 cars were already sold. Features of the model are a wedge-shaped silhouette, an increased wheelbase, a wide selection of trim levels and equipment.

The platform was introduced in 2006.
Even after the termination of cooperation between GM and Fiat, both companies retain the right to continue developing models of the MOX platform. Vehicles based on the MOX platform: Punto 2006, Opel Corsa 2007, Linea 2006, Fiat Fiorino and Qubo / Citroën Nemo / Peugeot Bipper 2007, Alfa Romeo MiTo 2008, Opel Meriva 2009.
