Biography

Born in the family of a retired deacon of the Resurrection Church of the village of Isady, Spassky district, Ryazan province, Grigory Iosifovich Orlov. He graduated from the Institute of Railway Engineers of Emperor Alexander I (today it is St. Petersburg State University of Railway Transport ) and since 1891 he worked on the Alexandrov (now Byelorussian) railway as a traffic inspector, was awarded the Order of St. Vladimir according to the statute and received a salary of 3,000 rubles, rose to the rank of "general traction." He was fond of archeology, even defended his thesis.

Orlov was an active participant in the monarchist movement, took part in the creation and work of many monarchist organizations. So, he was a member of the Union of Russian People , the Russian Monarchist Party , the Union of Russian People , the Russian Monarchical Union , the Russian Assembly and the Russian People’s Union named after Mikhail Archangel , and also was the organizer (together with V. M. Skvortsov ) of the moderate-right organization “ Patriotic patriotic union . "

Together with his father, Ivan Vostorgov and his assistant F. A. Slepov, he made two trips to Siberia and the Far East in order to create monarchist organizations (then made another trip on his own). Through the efforts of father John Vostorgov and V. G. Orlov, a number of monarchical organizations were opened in Vladivostok , Nikolsk-Ussuriysk, Khabarovsk , Harbin , Blagoveshchensk , Chita, Sretensk, Krasnoyarsk , Taiga and other places.

After the victory of the February Revolution (1917), V. G. Orlov was arrested by the Provisional Government and spent some time in solitary confinement in the Trubetskoy bastion of the Peter and Paul Fortress .

He actively tried to save the arrested royal family, using his connections in Siberia and the Far East. After the execution of the tsar’s family , having stopped by briefly in Moscow to see his relatives, he went to the Caucasus , where his long-standing patron, former Minister of Railways S.V. Rukhlov , was located to join Denikin’s army. As a result of treason, he was arrested and executed on October 6, 1918 near Pyatigorsk near Mount Mashuk . S.V. Rukhlov , Minister of Justice N.A. Dobrovolsky , Senator P.N. Krasheninnikov and other dignitaries of the Russian Empire were shot there with him.
