Neomycin is an antibiotic from the aminoglycoside group, a mixture of the neomycin A, B, and C antibiotics produced by Streptomyces fradiae . available in the form of sulfate.

The drug is practically not absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract , therefore its effect extends to the gastrointestinal tract, its use is associated with this: treatment of enteritis caused by microorganisms sensitive to it, and is also widely used for "sterilization" of the intestine before surgery.
Neomycin is also used topically to treat infected wounds, a number of skin diseases ( pyoderma ), vaginal infections, eye diseases, etc. Parenteral neomycin is not used, as it is highly toxic to the kidneys and auditory nerve.
Notes
In the 60s in the USSR, the active use of neomycin was practiced in the treatment of pneumonia, which led to massive neuritis of the auditory nerve.
