Miranda (Venezuela)

Miranda ( Spanish: Miranda ) (IPA: MFA: [esˈtaðo miˈɾanda] ) is one of 23 states in Venezuela . The second most populous state after Zulia . According to the 2011 census, the population is 2 675 165 inhabitants [1] . It also according to the Venezuelan National Institute of Statistics ( Spanish Instituto Nacional de Estadística ) has the highest human development index in Venezuela. According to recent estimates, in mid-2016, the population was 3 194 390 residents [2] .

The state of Miranda covers a total area of ​​7.950 km². The administrative center of the state is the city of Los Tekes . In the north it borders with the state of Vargas , in the south with the state of Guarico , in the east with the state of Ansoategui and in the west with the state of Aragua and the metropolitan area . In the northeast it is washed by the Caribbean Sea .

Named after the leader of the struggle for the independence of the Spanish colonies in South America, the national hero Francisco de Miranda .

Miranda is an important center for political, economic, cultural and commercial activities. The state is governed by a governor, and is divided into 21 municipalities, each of which is governed by a mayor.

As a subject of the federation, Miranda has its own constitution, the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Miranda [3] , which is the basis of state law and was approved in 2006 by the State Governor - Hector Rodriguez Castro.

Climate

In the lowlands of Miranda, the climate is very warm with temperature differences from 20 ℃ to 42 ℃ and high humidity in the coastal area of ​​Barlovento. In the Altos Mirandios region, the temperature fluctuates slightly throughout the year in the dry season (from December to March) from 10 ℃ to 23 ℃, at the beginning of the rainy season (April, May) it can rise to 33 ℃, during the rest of the year it ranges from 16 ℃ to 25 ℃.
